Here’s a short glimpse of my neighborhood, Morris Heights, The Bronx.
Morris Heights is located in the West Bronx. Its boundaries include very popular sectors such as Burnside Avenue, Jerome Avenue, the Cross-Bronx Expressway, the Harlem River, and University Avenue (my home) which is the primary thoroughfare of Morris Heights. As I take you along on my drive, you can see 6 story buildings, a ride through Jerome Avenue which is the home of the famous 4 train, and up the curvy hills of Tremont Avenue.
I’d like to take this opportunity, as my first blog post, to share what it means to be a Bronx girl to me; and nonetheless how P R O U D of it I am. I moved to the boogie down in 1999, when I was about five years old. The Bronx has shaped me to be the young woman I am today; besides being book smart: I am street smart and I have swag.
Many people have the misconception that The Bronx is not as good as the other boroughs, and that is because we have the hidden gems. The boogie down is filled rich in culture, history, and great people. We are the home of the legendary Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Zoo, New York’s Botanical Garden, and many other amazing landscapes such as Wave Hill and Van Cortland Park. We are the home of many diverse cultures such as Dominican, Mexican, Indian, Asian, and much more! Have you ever been to Little Italy in the Bronx? that’ll be perhaps the best pizza you’ll ever have! (stay tuned, I’ll take you there in the near future!)
The purpose of this blog is to help you get to know a little bit more of the boogie down Bronx through my eyes. I will show you my favorite and best spots to be, the best places to eat, and best things to see. The Bronx to me means home. But most importantly, the Bronx to me is beautiful, and I’d like to use this blog to break all of the misconceptions, and procreate a new positive one that gets you to boogie down!
Fasten your seat belts, and I hope you enjoy the ride!
