Bronx’s Little Italy is a pure combination of culture, traditions and food all in one! Located in the Belmont area of The Bronx, Little Italy is recognized in between Arthur Ave and 187th Street. There is another Little Italy in NYC, but Unlike the Little Italy neighborhood in Manhattan, which has become commercialized as a major tourist destination, the Bronx’s Little Italy is considered The real Little Italy due to its Italian immigrant heritage which dates back to the 1950’s. Bronx’s little Italy consists of many restaurants, small deli’s and cafe’s, pastries and bakery shops all along Arthur Ave and 187th Street. Anyone that knows about this Italian hidden gem in The Bronx, knows that this place is all about exquisite taste! Besides all of the delicious foods and goodies, Arthur Ave is the home to hundreds of Italians that reside right here in The Bronx! Little Italy is also the home of both BRONX ZOO & BOTANICAL GARDEN, as well as Fordham University, Ciccarone Park, Belmont Library, & Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Little Italy is like one big family, every year they host the same traditions such as tree lighting ceremony during Christmas, car shows, art shows, and most importantly the annual Ferragosto which is an all-things-Italian festival. As mentioned before, back in the 1950’s, Arthur Ave became the new home of newly arrived Italian immigrants; and until this day, the tradition continues with grandchildren and great-grandchildren remaining on Arthur Avenue, or returning, to own and manage business begun by their immigrant ancestors. When in doubt, Little Italy is a MUST-GO when visiting the boogie down Bronx!
